SANTA CLARA, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- January 23, 2007 -- Vormetric, a leading provider of security solutions for protecting sensitive data from unauthorized access, announced today that Jeffrey J. Romano has joined the company in the newly created position of Vice President, World Wide Services and Support.
Mr. Romano has more than 17 years of experience with software and professional services firms in and around Silicon Valley. His mission will be to build and lead Vormetric’s professional services and support organization so that the company can meet exponentially growing demand for technology, policies, and practices that safeguard critical personal, financial, and corporate information.
Mr. Romano joins Vormetric from MontaVista Software of Santa Clara, Calif. He managed that company’s global professional services and training organizations; in his first year, MontaVista’s revenue increased 155% while the company maintained profitable margins and high customer satisfaction levels. Prior to MontaVista, he was Vice President of Professional Services at Portal Software of Cupertino, Calif. He enlarged Portal’s professional services organization in the Americas and Asia Pacific from 25 to 250 people and added over $45 million in revenue.
He has also held senior positions at PeopleSoft, including Vice President of the Western Region customer service organization, and has served as a technical consultant and project manager for Price Waterhouse and Andersen Consulting. He holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and a master’s degree in industrial engineering, both from Cornell University.
"We are excited to have Jeff join Vormetric. He has a tremendous track record of building professional services and support organizations with fast-growing companies like ours,” said CEO Mark Pine. “We have seen a surge of interest in our data security and encryption technology products, and we’ve also undertaken a number of large customer deployments both on our own and with partners. Our customers are looking to Vormetric to provide the expertise to help them secure their data. Jeff will be responsible for rapidly expanding our services capabilities to meet this increasing demand,” he continued.
High-profile data breaches, such as the TJX Companies breach detailed in the NYTimes 1.22.07 along with a growing public demand for tighter government regulations on data protection, have heightened demand for Vormetric’s data protection products and services.
In December 2006 Vormetric announced a key partnership with security giant Symantec, whereby Symantec incorporates Vormetric’s patented encryption technology into its Veritas NetBackup solution for enterprise-level secure backup and recovery.
Vormetric will be in exhibitor’s booth # 2031 at the RSA Conference 2007, one of the computer security industry’s premier events, at San Francisco’s Moscone Center February 5-9.
